app pov’s
A user’s POV (Point of View) gives insight into who they are and what their needs are.
POV statements are composed of three elements: users, needs, and insights. Users are the specific user or audience group. These individuals can be defined through personas or empathy mapping. Next, is the user’s needs. What is the goal of the user that’s discovered through research, interviews, etc.? Needs are generally actions. Lastly, insights are the specific problems that need a solution.
To further the discussion on the importance of POV statements I analyzed three different apps in the app store. I evaluated the reviews into three categories: positive, negative, and constructive. From those reviews, I created point of view statements for each of the apps.
nike run club
Nike Run Club is an app that provides users with training plans, guided runs, wellness tips, and community challenges. It offers the resources users need to start running, keep running, and enjoy running. The app provides coaches, athletes, trainers, and experts to help you achieve your overall running goals.
NIKE RUN CLUB POVS:
Users who enjoy running need an app that will allow them to sync to their health tracking devices (i.e. Apple Watch/fit-bit) to the Nike Run Club app because they need to be able to track the calories lost, heart rate, etc. to the workouts they’re doing.
Users who like to run and workout need an app with proper functionality because there cannot be any freezing or crashing of the app that will interrupt the user’s workout.
spotify
Spotify is a highly-rated music and podcast app. Spotify allows you to play millions of songs, albums, and podcasts. You can discover new music, playlists, or podcasts for free on your mobile device or tablet. If you subscribe to Spotify premium you can listen offline and download songs wherever you are.
SPOTIFY POV’S
Users who enjoy listening and finding new music need an algorithm that caters to their input because the same repetitive music gets tiring for the user.
Users who like to listen to music need an app with proper functionality because user’s don’t want songs restarting and the app shutting down unexpectedly while listening to music.
ring
The Ring app allows you to watch over your property with video doorbells, security cameras, and alarm systems. The app can send the user instant alerts when someone’s at your door or motion is detected.
RING POV’S
Users who are concerned about their safety need a feature that will accurately show camera movement because user’s want to be alerted if there’s someone or something there that shouldn’t be.
User’s who want to take advantage of this app need an app that will allow them to log-in easily because user’s don’t want to use an app that continuously causes issues when you log in.
